Bouldering The Blob

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERABack at Joshua Tree National Park this morning we scrambled The Blob – that’s exactly what it looked like, a huge rock blob.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERARichard led the way as we scrambled over the giant blob of boulders. We explored and discovered a route over this three dimensional puzzle,  ascending granite slabs and creeping under massive rock caves – this was true exploration. Our backpacks were passed forward to get through the narrow gaps in the rock. Richard assisted the girls as we descended a little canyon with a few tight squeezes to make it fun. We made it over The Blob. Erin gained loads of confidence ascending and descending the grippy granite. Kendra was in her element. The girls spotted a dozen lizards and a few busy squirrels. They were especially delighted to spot the fluffiest Jack rabbit who kindly posed for my camera.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAA sunset drive in the Park this evening was stunning with Joshua trees silhouetted against the crimson sky. The kids played hide and seek among the boulders while we snapped a few photos. What a fabulous way to end an adventurous day.
